The Bespoke Jewellery-Making Process

At our family-run SALABA Jewellery Studio, we have been creating jewellery to our customers’ wishes since 1994. Our approach to jewellery-making is unique: we combine traditional goldsmithing with modern technology. This enables us to fulfil virtually any request.

Bespoke Jewellery in Seven Steps

1. Personal Consultation or Online Meeting

We will first arrange a personal consultation at our studio in Prague or Ústí nad Orlicí, or an online meeting. During the consultation, we will discuss your ideas and show you samples and the possibilities offered by 3D modelling. If you have specific inspiration in mind, we will work with you to bring it to life. If not, we will be happy to advise you and propose a suitable solution. You can book an appointment online here.

2. Setting Your Budget

The price of a piece of jewellery is primarily influenced by the gemstones you choose. We set our jewellery with natural diamonds as well as more affordable laboratory-grown diamonds and moissanites. Together, we will select an option that suits your budget. The jewellery design is free of charge; you pay only for the finished piece. Our bespoke rings start from CZK 25,000.

3. Choosing Materials and Gemstones

We use only the highest-quality materials to create our jewellery.

Gold

We create bespoke jewellery in both 14-carat (585/1000) and 18-carat (750/1000) gold, available in three shades:

White gold – An elegant, contemporary choice that beautifully complements coloured gemstones.

Yellow gold – A classic option with a warm tone, ideal for traditional designs.

Rose gold – A romantic shade with a hint of pink, popular for its delicacy and distinctive character.

Platinum

Platinum is one of the rarest precious metals in the world, prized for its exceptional strength, durability and naturally white lustre. It is hypoallergenic, making it an ideal choice for those with sensitive skin. Due to its high density, platinum jewellery is heavier than gold jewellery, which is why platinum is more expensive than gold. Platinum retains its natural white colour without requiring surface treatments such as rhodium plating, ensuring a long-lasting shine.

Gemstones

In addition to diamonds, we set our jewellery with a wide variety of coloured gemstones, including sapphires, emeralds, rubies, topazes and many others. We carefully select each stone for its quality, colour and brilliance to ensure that the finished piece is truly unique. Are you familiar with birthstones? They are a beautiful personal detail and a popular choice for bespoke jewellery.

4. Creating the Design in 3D

Using advanced 3D jewellery design software, we will work with you to create every detail of your piece, including its shape, size, number of stones, metal colour and other elements. The visualisation will allow you to view the jewellery from every angle and gain a realistic impression of its final appearance. For rings, we will also provide a visualisation showing how the ring will look on your hand.

5. Paying the Deposit

Once you have approved the design and the final price has been agreed, we require a deposit of 50% of the total amount. The remaining balance is payable when you collect the finished piece.

6. Making Your Jewellery

The production of bespoke jewellery usually takes 4 to 6 weeks from the time it enters production. Every piece is made to order in our workshop in Ústí nad Orlicí, where we combine handcraftsmanship with modern technology. We print the model using a 3D printer, cast it in gold or platinum, polish it and set the stones by hand. Throughout the process, we maintain the highest standards of workmanship, materials and raw materials.
