At SALABA Jewellery Studio, we select diamonds from verified sources. We work with suppliers whose gemstones are assessed not only for their quality, but also for their provenance, documentation and transparency.
We do not and will not support the trade in so-called blood diamonds – diamonds whose sale could be used to finance armed conflicts, violence or human suffering.
Blood Diamonds Are Not Just a Thing of the Distant Past
It may sometimes seem that blood diamonds belong to the past – something that happened many decades or even centuries ago. In reality, however, the modern debate surrounding conflict diamonds is relatively recent.
The international Kimberley Process was established at the beginning of the 21st century in response to the trade in rough diamonds that helped finance armed conflicts. The process began in 2000, and its certification scheme came into force in 2003.
This demonstrates that it is not a closed chapter from a hundred years ago. It is an issue that the diamond industry only began actively addressing relatively recently – and one that must still be taken seriously today.
What Does a Verified Source Mean?
A verified source means that the diamond comes from a supply chain governed by rules, documentation and accountability.
When selecting diamonds, we focus in particular on:
- the origin and reliability of the supplier;
- the documentation available for the stone;
- compliance with international rules governing the diamond trade;
- a fair and transparent approach when selling to the customer.
The Kimberley Process is now the principal international system designed to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate trade in rough diamonds. Its participants account for almost all global rough-diamond production.
Being Told That ‘the Diamond Is Beautiful’ Is Not Enough
A diamond can be perfectly cut, sparkling and beautiful at first sight. But if we do not know where it comes from, part of its story remains hidden. For a piece of jewellery intended to symbolise love, family or an important moment in life, that story is fundamental to us.
That is why we do not want to offer our customers diamonds based solely on specifications in a table. We want to offer them a stone we can genuinely stand behind.
We are not claiming that the entire diamond industry is without fault. Quite the opposite – we know that provenance and transparency are issues that need to be addressed. This makes it all the more important to choose partners who approach the diamond trade responsibly.

Klára Salabová is one of only seven Czech people to have earned the GIA Diamond Graduate qualification. You can therefore be confident that you are entrusting the selection of your diamond to a genuine expert.
Drawing on many years of knowledge and practical experience with diamonds, we select only stones that we can truly stand behind. We look beyond specifications on paper, considering the diamond’s overall beauty, quality and provenance. Every stone is carefully assessed and selected to ensure that it meets not only the technical requirements, but also the value and character of the piece of jewellery in which it will be set.
